2019:

• October: Bas and Eli have been
 awarded the research support from the Office of Science Engagement. Congratulations!!!
• September: Brian, Eli and Maria join lab as undergraduate research students. Welcome!!!
• August: NIH-NIGMS MIRA grant starts!
• June: Xin has honored as Pew Scholar in the Biomedical Sciences. Zhang is one of 22 early career researchers selected to receive the award in 2019. The award will support our work exploring how misfolded proteins form aggregates in cells and how to prevent aggregates from accumulating. (PSU News; the Pew Charitable Trusts)
• April: Conner received the Student Leadership Award in 2019!!! Announcement: “The recipient of this year’s award is Conner Hoelzel, who has worked devotedly to launch the highly successful Chemical Biology Seminar Series, among other activities. Connor’s efforts have helped us to put together this series, which meets every Monday for a presentation by a student or a postdoc working in the area of chemical biology, broadly defined. This year, Connor helped to expand the series to include a student-invited outside speaker in the fall and to welcome a Penn State Chemistry alumna to speak in the spring.” Congratulations!!!
• April: Alex has been awarded a Benkovic Summer Research Award for the project “One Scaffold Serves Two Purposes: Colorimetric and Fluorogenic Probes for pH and Polarity”. He is one of the 7 awardees in 2019. Congratulations and thanks to the support from our colleagues Pat and Steve Benkovic!!!
• April: Sojung has been selected as a 2019 Barry Goldwater Scholar. The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship is the most prestigious undergraduate scholarship given in the natural sciences, engineering, and mathematics.  Each year, it is awarded to approximately 300 college sophomores and juniors nationwide. As a junior Chemistry major, Sojung is one of the four awardees from Penn State. Congratulations!!!
• March: Bas has been awarded the Erickson Discovery Grant for the project “Detection of Protein Refolding via a Reverse Environmentally-Sensitive Fluorescent Probe”. He is one of the 78 awardees in 2019. Congratulations!!!
• March: Sojung has been accepted to the REU program at UC Berkeley. Congratulations!!!

2018:
• January: Anna and Divya join lab as undergraduate research students. Welcome!!!
• February: Xin received the 2018 Sloan Research Fellowship in Chemistry. News releases are in the ECOS and Sloan Foundation.
• February: Patrick is selected to deliver an oral presentation at the ASBMB annual meeting in San Diego, 2018. Congratulations!!!
